A) German Measles (Rubella): starts on face; pruritic; complications: infection during first 4 months pregnancy high risk for congenital rubella syndrome; supportive care
B) Measles (Rubeola): starts on face; non-pruritic; syndrome: (cough, coryza, conjunctivitis), koplik spots in mouth 1-2d before rash; complications: secondary bacterial infection, encephalitis (1:1000), subacute sclerosing pan encephalitis (1:100,000); supportive care
C) Chicken Pox (Varicella): starts anywhere (often chest/face); vesicles on macules in multiple stages of healing; very pruritic; 1-3d prodrome of fever and respiratory symptoms; complications: congenital varicella syndrome (1st or 2nd trimester); supportive care
D) Ezcema Herpeticum: superinfection of preexisting eczema dermatosis by virus (usually HSV-1); pruritic and painful; often fever and lymphadenitis; complications: bacterial superinfection and bacteremia; dermatologic emergency: prompt treatment with acyclovir (usually IV)
