Hill-Sachs Deformity
– A compression fx or groove of the posterolateral aspect of the humeral head
– When the shoulder dislocates or during reduction, the anterior glenoid rim can cause impaction of the humeral head. The sharp anterior rim causes damage to the humeral head known as the “hatchet sign.”
– Present in up to 50% of anterior dislocations and common in patients with recurrent dislocations.
