Academic Interests: Clinical operations, care transitions and utilization management, informatics, social drivers of health, quality improvement, and reimbursement policy

As an Assistant Professor and Assistant Medical Director at The Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine, I am passionate about leveraging clinical informatics and value-based care models to improve equity, quality, and transitions of care. I have over ten years of clinical experience with dual degrees in public health and business administration and certifications from Epic Physician Builder and the American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

Through EHR-embedded clinical pathways and real-time risk stratification, I seek to minimize provider cognitive burden and variation in resource utilization while optimizing throughput and adherence to evidence-based guidelines. I am also invested in strengthening community-based partnerships and health information exchange infrastructure to deliver patient-centered care addressing health-related social needs.

I serve on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Technical Expert Panels on national quality measures for emergency medicine. Through the American College of Emergency Physicians, I am Vice Chair of the Health Innovation Technology Committee and lead the workgroup on alternative payment models for the Reimbursement Committee. My work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and Pfizer. I am on the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine editorial board and have published in peer-reviewed journals such as Annals of Emergency Medicine, the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice, and the Journal of the National Medical Association.

As a nationally recognized public speaker and writer, my core competencies include emergency services, clinical operations, care transitions and utilization management, informatics, social drivers of health, quality improvement, and reimbursement policy. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, Marvel movies, freelance fashion design, and I hope one day to sneak my two cats, Angie and Marcel, into an art museum. You can reach me on Twitter @TehreemRehman.
