Academic Interests: Suicidal patients in the ED, use of Ketamine for depression in the ED, and decision making capacity

Dr. Nicholas Schwartz graduated from the Yale School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh three years later. While at Pittsburgh he developed an interest in acute pain management and published a paper on pain control in the Emergency Department that was awarded a national commendation. He has continued to work in this area and has served on the Pain Committee at Elmhurst Hospital. Dr. Schwartz completed a second residency in Psychiatry at the University of Washington. His current area of interest is the crossover between the two specialties including suicidal patients in the ED, use of Ketamine for depression in the ED, and decision making capacity.
