Fun Fact: I have fostered 20 dogs (and I plan to foster more)!

Amelia Klamen is a PGY-1 Emergency Medicine resident at ISMMS Mount Sinai Hospital/Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Medicine Program. She earned her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also trained and worked as an EMT. During her time at UW, she led campus-wide initiatives focused on healthcare inclusivity, fostering dialogue around access and equity in medicine.

She went on to receive her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. There, she developed a strong commitment to street medicine and served as President of the Medical Ethics Interest Group, blending her passion for frontline care with critical inquiry into the moral dimensions of clinical practice.

Amelia’s academic interests include street medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, medical education, wilderness medicine, and social emergency medicine. She hopes to expand her ability to deliver compassionate, community-centered care and to advancing equitable healthcare through clinical innovation and advocacy.
