Academic Interests: Simulation, Teaching and Research

Jared Kutzin, DNP, MS, MPH, RN, FSSH, FAAN is a Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Medical Education and the Senior Director of the Simulation Teaching and Research (STAR) Center at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Jared is a registered nurse with advanced degrees in health policy and management, public health, leadership, and medical education. His advanced training includes completing the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program (CQFP) offered by the Greater New York Hospital Association and the United Hospital Fund and the Comprehensive Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship (CPSLF) offered by the National Patient Safety Foundation and American Hospital Association. Jared is certified in healthcare quality (CPHQ), patient safety (CPPS), simulation operations (CHSOS), and as a Nurse Executive – Advanced (NEA-BC).

In 2017, Dr. Kutzin was inducted as an inaugural fellow in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s Simulation Academy. In 2018 he served on the Baldrige Board of Examiners and was recognized as a fellow by the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). Currently, Jared is on the Board of Directors for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s (SSH), sits on the NYS Board of Nursing, and the NYS EMS Council (SEMSCO). Jared is the Deputy Editor for simulation for MedEdPORTAL, The Journal of Teaching and Learning Resources, and is a member of the Executive Editorial Board of the Journal of Emergency Nursing.

In 2022, Dr. Kutzin was recognized as Educator of the Year by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. He was also recognized as a Master Educator by the Institute for Medical Education at Mount Sinai and was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing for his significant contributions to nursing, education, and healthcare.

Jared serves on the board of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and is the 2025 President of SSH.
