Alex F. Manini, MD, MS, FACMT, FAACT, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and practices clinically at Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Manini is the Director of the Mount Sinai Center for Research on Emerging Substances, Poisoning, Overdose, and New Discoveries (RESPOND Center), and the Associate Program Director of the T32 Clinician Scientist Training Program focused on emergency care research.
Dr. Manini’s research track record is highlighted by being continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2009, totaling over $10M as a principal investigator. He is consistently ranked among the top 30 highest NIH-funded PIs in emergency medicine, as recognized by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. Additionally, he has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles in the emergency medicine and medical toxicology literature. He has mentored over 40 pre- and post-doctoral students, residents, and junior faculty over the past 15+ years at Mount Sinai, who have gone on to secure several millions of dollars in federal grant funding.
Before joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Manini was a medical toxicology fellow at NYU/Bellevue where he completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at NYU School of Medicine. He was trained in emergency medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency.
