Salaries
We receive a competitive salary, and one of the highest in the country. Plus, academic funding over the course of residency, for books, conferences, and other relevant expenses. The Department covers expenses for regional and national meetings when residents present or sit on committees. The Department pays for memberships to SAEM, ACEP, and AAEM. Recreation Office
The Mount Sinai Recreation Office offers free and discounted tickets for theater, sports, and other events. Discounts are also available for cell phone plans, health and fitness centers, car rentals, and many other services.
Housing and Transportation
The Mount Sinai Health System owns several buildings near the hospital with partially subsidized apartments for the use of house officers and their families.
Mount Sinai operates a free shuttle bus throughout the day between the two training sites. There is also garage parking at both sites. Subway fare, parking, and other transport fees can come out of pre-taxed salary.
Extracurriculars
Our residents and faculty find many ways to apply their emergency medicine skills outside of the ED. International opportunities are available as part of our Global Health initiatives. Residents and faculty also provide medical assistance as part of Mount Sinai’s community outreach programs. For example, our residents are present at the New York Mets home games, at area rugby games, and at the New York Marathon.
