Anjali Kalra, MD, MPH spent most of her life in Houston Texas and the San Francisco Bay Area. She went to undergrad at UC Berkeley where she majored in Molecular Cell Biology with a minor in Global Poverty and Practice. She became interested in human rights and global health during her time there. After a year of being an assistant clinical research coordinator working on an NIH asthma study at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, she started medical school at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She also concurrently completed her MPH at the UT Health School of Public Health. While in Dallas she continued to grow her passion for health & human rights through various presentations and publications on healthcare utilization for survivors of human trafficking, investigations on adverse childhood experiences and sexually transmitted infections, and volunteering at the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center. She hopes to to become a champion in the endeavor to improve healthcare utilization by immigrants, asylum seekers, people in custody/incarceration, and survivors of interpersonal violence and trauma.
