Meylakh was born in Moscow but grew up in Atlanta, GA. He studied computer science with a minor in Arabic, graduating in 2013. He first worked as a software engineer in finance and then became the Director of Technology for the nonprofit GiveDirectly before pivoting into medicine after completing a post-bacc program at Georgetown. He attended medical school at Brown, completing a combined MD-MSc program in Primary Care and Population Medicine. His thesis focused on the use of text messages to improve patient care in the ED.
