| Alexa Tarui is a PGY-1 Emergency Medicine resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Medicine Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomolecular Science from the University of Michigan, with a minor in Law, Justice, and Social Change, where she worked closely with incarcerated populations and developed a strong interest in social justice and advocacy for underserved communities.
She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she was actively involved in health equity and emergency care outcomes, with research spanning community health needs assessments, maternal opioid use disorder, and cardiovascular disparities. As a new intern, Dr. Tarui is passionate about caring for underserved populations and hopes to contribute to Emergency Medicine through clinical excellence, mentorship, and research. |
