| While in medical school, Dr. Buckanavage focused on social EM and medical education. As a 2nd year, he ran the Narcan Outreach Project where he was responsible for distributing Narcan throughout the Philadelphia area while providing harm reduction talks to healthcare professionals as well.
Through medical school, Dr. Buckanavage worked on multiple projects regarding the effectiveness of residency programs/fellowship and which improvements would best aid in career development. This resulted in a podium presentation at ACEP 2023. As a resident, he became interested in continuing his work on substance use disorders by being an advocate for prescribing Suboxone out of the ED, but also plans to pursue projects focused in administration and operations. |
