The residency is sponsoring a happy hour this coming Tuesday at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria . For those of you who aren’t familiar, this place is a NYC landmark because it has the last original beer garden in all of NYC and was voted best outdoor bar by New York Citysearch (in 2005 — but it’s still highly ranked). It’s just a couple minutes walk from the N train. All residents, faculty and med students rotating in the ED this month are invited.
Date: Tuesday, August 26
Time: 7:00PM
Location: 29-19 24th Ave, Astoria
Directions by subway: Take the N to Astoria Blvd. (one stop before the last - Ditmars Blvd.). Walk 1 block to the intersection of 24th Avenue and 31st Street. The beer garden is located between 29th Street and 31st Street.
Dr. Wang adds: During the summers they have an outdoor grill - grilling up all sorts of sausages and stuff that would be expected at a German joint. Only a handful of beers on tap, but very much in the traditional German Pilsner style.

There’s lots of new and good stuff under the “Blog” tab above — some post-conference and post-sim discussion points, and recent journal club recaps (on d-dimer for dissection, and clevidipine for HTN — thanks, Marisa!). I’ve also posted a summary, with links, to much of Dr. Hollander’s lecture on NSTEMI risk stratification, and ED management of ACS. He said plenty of insightful things but I know many of you had questions — check it out.
Also our Grand Rounds library has grown to three lectures — give it a listen (mp3’s are available under the “Conference” tab).
